Kunalsinh’s Transformational Impact on Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges
Background:
Kunalsinh, a seasoned Solutions Architect with a robust background in PeopleSoft infrastructure and a visionary leader, played a pivotal role in reshaping the technological landscape for the Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges. His expertise and strategic approach were instrumental in designing and implementing a comprehensive PeopleSoft infrastructure to support various applications.
The Challenge:
The Washington State Board faced significant challenges as it is a consortium of 28 colleges. Ciber inc was partnered to implement PeopleSoft CS HCM, FSCM PT modules across the board. The contract dictates implementation and managed services of PeopleSoft.
Kunalsinh Vaghela was consultant to WASBCTC based in Bellevue, Washington through Ciber, inc. The challenges were to mitigate entire infrastructure shape size design and build PeopleSoft instances from scratch and integrating and optimizing PeopleSoft applications for their campus, finance, human capital management (HCM), and portal needs. Additionally, there was a need for a robust disaster recovery system, efficient automation scripts, and performance tuning for critical functions like student admissions and payroll processing.
Solution:
- Designing and Implementing PeopleSoft Infrastructure: Kunalsinh spearheaded the ground-up design of a PeopleSoft infrastructure tailored to the specific needs of the Washington State Board. This involved meticulous planning and execution to seamlessly integrate PeopleSoft campus, finance, HCM, and portal applications.
- Disaster Recovery System Implementation: Understanding the importance of business continuity, Kunalsinh designed and implemented a disaster recovery system for the entire PeopleSoft landscape. This system had a Recovery Time Objective (RTO) of 24 hours and 8 hours, ensuring swift recovery in case of unforeseen incidents.
- 3. Policies and Procedures for Periodic Backups: To enhance data security and compliance, Kunalsinh established robust policies and procedures for periodic backups. These adhered to industry standards and best practices, providing a foundation for data integrity and protection.
- Automation Scripts for Application Refresh: Kunalsinh led the effort to create automation scripts for refreshing applications from the production environment to non-production environments. This streamlined processes, improving efficiency and reducing the risk of errors during the refresh.
- Go Live Effort for PeopleSoft Pillars: As a key leader, Kunalsinh played a pivotal role in successfully leading the go-live effort for all four PeopleSoft pillars. His strategic planning and meticulous execution ensured a smooth transition to the new system.
- Performance Tuning for Critical Functions:Recognizing the importance of optimal system performance, Kunalsinh focused on tuning performance for critical functions, specifically student admissions and payroll processing. This contributed to faster processing times and improved overall system efficiency.
- Integration and Data Validation: Kunalsinh integrated all four PeopleSoft pillars by deploying integration brokers, supporting Single Sign-On (SSO), and ensuring seamless message flow across all domains. Additionally, he led the effort to implement a tool for clean addresses, ensuring data validation in the production environment.
Results:
Kunalsinh’s comprehensive approach and strategic initiatives resulted in a seamlessly integrated PeopleSoft infrastructure for the Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges. The institution now benefits from improved data security, enhanced disaster recovery capabilities, streamlined processes, and optimized system performance. Kunalsinh’s leadership and expertise have positioned the Washington State Board for sustained success in their academic and administrative endeavors.
